Anjali Tannan, M.D.

Dr. Anjali Tannan is a board-certified and fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in refractive and cataract surgeries, corneal transplants, anterior segment reconstruction, and external disease in Chicago.

Anjali Tannan, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has worked at Chicago-based University Ophthalmology Associates since 2015. She is also an Assistant Professor and has served as the Residency Program Director at Rush University Medical Center since 2019. She specializes in cataract surgery and complex intraocular lens surgery, refractive surgery, anterior segment reconstruction, corneal infections, and corneal transplants.

Dr. Tannan obtained her bachelor of science and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her internship and ophthalmology residency at Rush University medical Center in Chicago where she served as chief resident. She then went on to complete a fellowship in cornea, external diseases and refractive surgery at Stein Eye Center at UCLA in Los Angeles.

Dr. Tannan dedicates much of her time to resident and medical student education and is the recipient of multiple teaching awards including the Golden Apple Teaching Award for Surgical Education in 2016 and 2022, the Rookie of the Year award in 2018, and the Golden Apple Teaching Award for Clinical Education in 2020. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Cornea Society. She has held leadership roles in these organizations including being part of the Skills Transfers Advisory Committee for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She also received an achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2022. She currently serves as a course instructor for skills-transfer courses at several national meetings of the Academy of Ophthalmology and participates as faculty for multiple cataract courses.

Dr. Tannan currently sees patients at our Rush and Oak Brook locations.
