Dr. Terrence Murphy is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and refractive surgeon, specializing in complex cataract surgeries, refractive surgery, and the management of general eye and vision conditions including glaucoma and diabetes.
Dr. Murphy was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He completed undergraduate studies and a Masters in Public Health and Epidemiology at Saint Louis University in Missouri. He worked as a clinical epidemiologist at Rush University Medical Center before completing his post-baccalaureate pre-medical studies at Northwestern University. He completed his medical degree at Rush Medical College and ophthalmology residency at Rush University Medical Center, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Murphy is an Assistant Professor at Rush University. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and Chicago Ophthalmologic Society. He is passionate about social justice and community health, volunteers regularly to provide ophthalmic care to Chicago’s homeless population through Franciscan Outreach, and joins cataract mission trips to Guatemala through Humanity First International.
