Vanee V. Virasch, M.D.

Dr. Vanee V. Virasch is a board-certified and fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of corneal disease, refractive and cataract surgeries, corneal transplants, anterior segment reconstruction and complex anterior segment and lens surgery in Chicago.

Dr. Virasch is an Assistant Professor and Attending Physician at Rush University Medical Center.  She currently serves as the Section Director of Cornea and External Disease for their Department of Ophthalmology. She completed her internship and ophthalmology residency at Rush University Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. She went on to complete a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive surgery at Washington University School of Medicine / Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Dr. Virasch is a Chicago native who graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering. She completed her medical degree with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Dr. Virasch is a board-certified member of numerous professional groups including the Chicago Ophthalmological Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Virasch has dedicated over 15 years of her career to the clinical and surgical teaching of residents and medical students. She has received multiple Golden Apple Awards for Surgical Education. She has presented and published scientific papers and has co-authored multiple textbook chapters. She currently serves as course instructor for several skills-transfer courses at national meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and received an Achievement Award in 2018. She participates as faculty for multiple cataract courses and serves as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.
